Parenting in the Information Age: How to Raise Healthy Digital Citizens
Wellbeing is a central focus of HKA’s learning community, and digital wellbeing is one aspect of our that commitment. To help us further develop our understanding of digital health, HKA has engaged Matt Harris, Ed.D. from International EdTech, to lead us in a conversation about the challenges facing parents today and how we can best support our children. Dr. Harris is a former international school educator and administrator whose has developed an award winningDigital Citizenship programme. For more information, please visit mattharrisedd.com.
Parents are invited to hear Dr. Harris on Thursday, 20th September, from 6:30pm to 8pm. We look forward to this evening on how we can all build our digital parenting capacity. Please book your free seat(s) online at ticketing.hkacademy.edu.hk by Tuesday, 18th September. Current HKA parents (and staff) can take advantage of the discount code ‘dragonfly100’ to enable free seats during the online checkout process. Coffee, tea and biscuits will be provided.
While at HKA, Dr. Harris will also be working with students and faculty as we expand and refine our common understanding of digital wellbeing within the school. Using Common Sense Education as a basis, he will work with Primary and Secondary School students on topics ranging from digital personae to internet safety in the online world. His work with teachers will include a pathway towards digital citizenship certification and guidance for the integration of digital citizenship concepts into the curriculum.
I hope to see you on the 20th for what promises to be a relevant and engaging evening of learning for us all. This event will also be open to the public at a cost of $150 per seat. External audiences should visit hkacademy.edu.hk/mattharris to purchase their tickets.
